Impact: Delivered the design on a tight deadline and with budget constraints

Overview

The Early Bird Books Sign-up page is where users can subscribe to get the newsletter to get ebook deals every day. The page also has an option to sign up for other ORIM-owned brands. Because of the shifting priorities, I was asked to redesign the page in one day. I realized while evaluating the design that, needed to be able to sign up through other email services, or be able to sign in to their existing account. The Early Bird Books brand needs to stand out from competitors. I was able to turn around the design promptly on short notice.

Problem

Users struggle to sign up for the Early Bird Books newsletters, so they need multiple ways to sign up for the newsletter.

Research Constraints

User is familiar with the layout, and it must remain the same. I was limited by time and budget, so I looked other similar sites to gain insights.

I got praise from the team. My manager thanked me for the quick turnaround. The stakeholder also said, “The illustration went well with the rest of the branding.”

Learnings:

  1. Work with multiple constraints and priorities.

  2. User Research sometimes is not possible.

  3. Sharing designs early and often can lead to buy-in from stakeholders and the team.
